Mamma Mia Success Sparks Record Summer For Cinema Attendance

The film has already scooped best musical at the National Movie Awards, with its star Meryl Streep awarded the title of Best Actress. Now the industry figures say the absolute phenomenon which also stars Pierce Brosnan, Julie Walters and Colin Firth, was instrumental in making this summer the best for the British cinema audience since 1972. The film cost 28 million to make and so far took EUR 245 million in box offices worldwide including 61 million in Britain since it was launched in July.
